1. Who is our governing organization?

- The South Walton Youth Seahawks plays under the PYFA (Panhandle Youth Football Association)

Umbrella. Information on the PYFA can be found at www.thepyfa.org.

 

2. When is Open Registration? How do I register?

- Registration is NOW OPEN and will run through …… We will not accept late registrants this year due to

difficulties ordering uniforms in a timely manner. Registration is online at

www.southwaltonyouthfootball.website.siplay.com. Please have a copy of your child’s birth certificate as well

as a recent photo available upon registration. We have found it easier to register from a computer vs handheld

device but if you have any issues please email the league at pyfasouthwalton@gmail.com and specify

“Technical Issues Registering” so that we can assist you as soon as possible.

 

3. What is the cost to register and what does this include?

- Registration is $135 Football registration fees include Gameday Jersey, mouthpiece. Cheer registration

fees include Gameday Cheer Uniform, bows and pom-poms.

 

4. What are additional costs to expect throughout the season?

- Football players will be responsible for their own socks, football pants, cleats and most likely additional

mouthpieces throughout the year. Cheerleaders will be responsible for their own socks and tennis shoes.

Fundraisers will be encouraged for special items such as pink socks, pink pom-poms during October for

Breast Cancer Awareness month.

 

5. When will practices start and what are the days/times?

- Your child’s head coach will make the ultimate decision but practices will start August 1st and generally

are held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm-7:30pm. We are working to coordinate

conditioning clinics throughout the summer in order to keep your players strong, healthy and ready for an

excellent season.

 

6. When and where are games played?

- Games are on Saturday mornings and while there can be deviations to the schedule are generally at

9am for Boomers, 10am for PeeWees, 11:30 for Juniors and 12:30 for Seniors. Participants in the PYFA

are Walton (Defuniak), Destin, Niceville, Panama City Beach, South Walton, Shalimar, Crestview, Freeport,

Lynn Haven, Vernon, Ft. Walton Beach and Jackson County. There will be a minimum of 6 and a

maximum of 10 regular season games. You can expect 2-4 home games with the remaining travel to one

of the above mentioned fields.

 

7. What side of the filed is considered the Home side?

- The coaches have always claimed the side opposite of the concession stand as the Home Side and

will continue this in the future. The county will be working to improve the field throughout the off-season

and we have asked them for additional bleachers to accommodate both sides better.

 

8. What if I want to volunteer as a coach?

- Please email pyfasouthwalton@gmail.com and put “I’m interested in coaching” as the subject line.

All head coaches from the previous year are given the first right of refusal. If there is a spot available as

head coach, all applicants will be considered and voted on by the board. Please provide letters of

recommendations in your email as well. Head coaches will be voted on by ….. If you are interested in

being an assistant coach, please reach out to your head coach directly.

10. How can I get involved?

- Email us at pyfasouthwalton@gmail.com! Parent involvement is one of the most important ways to

help our league be successful! We have many opportunities for you to help out starting today and

throughout the entire year. Please let us know if you are interested on being on a following committee: 1)

Fundraising/ Sponsorships, 2) End of Year Celebration, 3) Volunteer Coordinator. We always need help

throughout the season in the concession stand as well as on the sidelines holding field markers and

chains.

 

11. How do I stay informed?

- When you register your child there is an option to “Opt-in” on all communication from the league.

You must Opt in to receive updates from us via “Mass Communication”. This communication is not a

large group text that people can respond to and we do keep this communication delivery to priority

information only. There is also a free app that you can download “Si Play : Sports Illustrated Play” where

you can find the schedule and your team roster. It is also a great place to share photos!
